dc.description.abstract The article deals with the linguistic construction of social reality. The article discusses the concepts of "social reality", "construction of social reality"; the language means of social reality construction in a literary text are considered; the comparative analysis of specific use of metaphor as a means of constructing social reality in the works of English writers is conducted on the material of the novels "1984" by George Orwell and "Brave New World" by O.L.
